2003 to 2013
The original OpenFrag project
From 2003 to 2013, OpenFrag was an open-source first-person shooter. This page is a short factual note for anyone who followed an old link. It is not the project, and it does not continue the game.
We are not the original OpenFrag team. We do not republish the project's text or images. The links below are the places to read the original record.
What it was
OpenFrag began in 2003 as a multiplayer FPS with a medieval setting. It was written in C++ and Lua, using the OGRE engine, and the code was released under the GPL. Contemporary descriptions call it a multi-platform open-source project. The code and files remain on SourceForge.
Libregamewiki lists a public demo, version 0.5, released on 20 May 2008. Public listings describe development as inactive after the late 2000s. The original website occupied this domain through 2013. From 2016 to 2025 the domain redirected to a German gaming site. This page does not cover that later period, and we do not recreate it.
Downloads
The original files, including the source code, are archived on SourceForge. We do not host those downloads here.
