How we review
OpenFrag guides are aggregator pieces. We read published sources, name them, and link them. We do not claim to have used the products ourselves.
Sources we read
For gear, we use the maker's documentation, ProtonDB, the Arch wiki, and independent expert reviews. Where a retailer shows recent buyer ratings, we may read those too, and we say so when a point comes from ratings rather than from a review.
For games and engines, we use the project's own site, its licence terms, and secondary write-ups from established open-source game references.
How we weigh them
Maker documentation is the source for specifications. Expert reviews are the source for how a product is reported to behave in play. ProtonDB, the Arch wiki, and the maker's own Linux notes are the source for Linux and SteamOS behaviour. A single unhappy rating does not outweigh a consistent report from those references. When sources disagree, we say so on the page.
Linux and SteamOS
Every gear roundup includes a Linux and SteamOS note: drivers, extra software, and known issues. A claim that something works on Windows is not treated as a claim that it works on Linux.
What we do not claim
We do not test products ourselves. We do not invent benchmarks. If a figure appears in a table, it is attributed to a named source, or it is a specification from the maker. Our own work is the synthesis, the spec tables, and the compatibility notes, each tied back to those sources.
Prices
We do not type Amazon prices. An Amazon button leaves this site and opens the product on Amazon, where the current price is shown. If a guide mentions a price from another retailer, that page shows a "Prices last checked" date. Those non-Amazon prices go stale, and the date tells you when we last confirmed them.
How we use AI
AI tools may help produce a first draft, an outline, or a cleaned-up table. A person checks every factual claim against the linked sources, edits the prose, and decides what is published. The editor is Robert Thomas. AI is not credited as an author.
This is the AI disclosure for OpenFrag. It lives on this page. It is not placed on the homepage.
Re-checking
We re-read a commercial guide when a product line is replaced, when a Linux driver story changes, and at least twice a year. The updated date on the page changes when we do. The "Prices last checked" date changes when we re-confirm a non-Amazon price.
The byline on every guide is: Reviewed by OpenFrag editorial team, edited by Robert Thomas.
